Slow Down

Life has been extra busy for myself since school started back up for the kids. It has been my goal to slow down as much as possible in the midst of all the chaos.

Some ways I'm being purposeful with my time:

1. A social media break.

I find that whenever I'm nursing, I tend to go on my phone a lot. I sit down to nurse, pull out my phone to give myself something to do, and before I know it, I have a screen addiction. So, for a certain amount of time, I took the apps off of my phone and let my heart and mind reset. I needed to allow myself to get back to a place where my resting state was to fall into prayer, rather than the endless mind-sucking space of the internet. I find that I need to do this regularly.

2. Wherever I find myself, be all there.

If I'm in front of my children, give them my full attention.

If I'm working on my book, stay focused and don't wander off on rabbit trails.

Homeschool is homeschool time, not a time for me to half-heartedly jot down notes for my book. I found that splitting my mind in heavy moments like this caused more stress than productivity.

3. Pray more.

Instead of always reaching for my phone, I strive to fill empty time with prayer.

"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).

Life can get so busy, but there are things we can do to slow down, take a deep breath, and enjoy the time God has given us.
