10 Bible Verses for the Hurting

This season can be a most special time for people, but for others it can really be a time of suffering. When awful things happen in our life it can almost seem worse during Christmas time. My friend, if this is you, I want to remind you that you are not alone. The Bible says that God will never leave you (Hebrews 13:5).

The promises of God never return void (Isaiah 55:10-11), and we can find comfort from Him in His Word. Here are 10 verses that may give you comfort in your season of hurt.

1. “'…And lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen” (Matthew 28:20).

2. “…For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5).

3. “How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You” (Psalm 139:17-18).

4. “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him…” (Job 13:15).

5. “…Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning” (Psalm 30:5).

6. “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart- these O God, You will not despise” (Psalm 51:17).

You may be hurting right now, but I pray you will find comfort in the Word of God and His promises to you and me. He loves us so much that He became a man so He could suffer in our place. That is what this season is all about. And if you can’t find joy in your circumstances, you can no doubt find joy in that.
