He is all we need | Psalm 63:1 Series

He is all we need

"O God, You are my God;

Early will I seek you;

My soul thirsts for You;

My flesh longs for You

In a dry and thirsty land

Where there is no water."

Psalm 63:1

I thought it interesting that David found himself in this dry land (whether it be metaphorical or literal). Nothing gets past God, just as in Job when Satan had to ask permission to deal with Job as he wished. God gave permission. I believe that God also allowed David to enter in to this dry land where he experienced such a thirst.

Not only did David experience thirst, but this thirst drove him to the Lord. It caused him to long for the Lord and he even recognized that it was God that he was truly thirsting for.

God also allows us to face difficulties in our own lives. Every one of us have faced a trial of some sort, and though we don't always understand why God allows such terrible things to occur, we can trust that He knows what He is doing, and know that His way is never wrong. I pray that when trials do come your way that they will draw you all the more closer to Jesus.

My husband and I recently lost our baby. There has never been a trial that I've faced that has broken me so much. I was so hurt that the Lord would allow this. I had questions, wondering why He would allow it to happen, and no answers. But I have learned some things from this experience that have been comforting for me.

There was a day shortly after we lost the baby that we were able to see my in-laws. My mother-in-law seemed particularly upset about the loss. She loved us so much that she wished she could protect us from this pain.

God reminded me that day that He loves us even more than she does. How much more then, would He long to keep us from pain? God loves His children, and He loves to bless His children. But God, in His sovereignty, thought it would be best to allow our little one to go home to be with Him. All this pain and hurt (for reasons I will never know) were worth it to the Lord. And I choose to trust Him with that decision, because He is a faithful God.

Friends, He is all we need. Whether it be in waves rising up all around us, or a dry and thirsty land where there is no water.

"Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him,"

Job 13:15

"If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself,:

2 Timothy 2:13

Also, I had to sneak this video in because Shane & Shane did Psalm 63.
